I’m a parks and recreation professional and a leadership development nerd (the proud kind!) on a mission to help people become the kind of leaders others actually want to follow. My journey started with a big question – What really makes a great leader?  This journey has taken me from classrooms, to nonprofits, to boardrooms, to city halls in two states. Along the way, I’ve combined academic smarts with real-world know-how to create leadership programs that are anything but boring—think relevant, hands-on, and built to make a real difference.

In 2023, I founded Shannon Coates Consulting to design custom leadership programs for executives, managers, and emerging leaders, focusing on interactive, boundary-pushing experiences. As an author, speaker, facilitator, and coach, I’m committed to helping leaders at all levels thrive and make a lasting impact.
